About

Our Story

Have fun and enjoy! It’s as simple as that!

We started Nuance Wines to participate in the art of premium winemaking, from selecting the vineyard through bottling. With our partners at CrushPad, we search for the best fruit from outstanding low-yield vineyards throughout the Napa and Sonoma Valleys. Through the subtle art of blending each vintage to create the best possible premium wines to enjoy with friends and family.

Why Nuance? Because it reflects the delicate, complex balance in which the vineyard microclimate, approach of the grower, and craft of the winemaker each contributes to the body and flavor of the wine.

We hope you’ll enjoy our premium wines whenever family and friends gather. They add something special to any occasion from informal gatherings to any occasion.

Our Wine Maker

Our wine maker is Kian Tavakoli. After graduating from UC Davis in 1992, Kian got his start at Opus One winery as their enologist. After four years at Opus One, he was hired by Clos Du Val, where he managed their Cabernet wines, including their highly-acclaimed reserve bottling; all the while expanding on his winemaking experience by helping with the production of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Zinfandel. With over 15 years of winemaking, operations and viticulture experience, Kian brings a stellar combination of sensory and production skills to his craft. We’re really excited to be working with Kian!

Our Wines

One of our favorite varietals is Cabernet Sauvignon, and we’ve selected it for our first five vintages. We’re using grapes from different vineyards in the Napa Valley to explore the nuances in several celebrated Napa Valley microclimates: Oakville (2007), St. Helena (2008 and 2010), Oak Knoll (2009 and 2011), and Atlas Peak (2010). We’ve also expanded our varietals to include Chardonnay (2010) and Zinfandel (2011). The grapes are from vineyards on the Sonoma Coast (Chardonnay) and the Dry Creek Valley (Zinfandel).

We keep production limited to ensure a special, unique wine experience for our family, friends, associates, and customers.
